Marina Barker
Marina Barker is an Australian Mezzo-Soprano.
Marina studied privately with Ms Lesley Purvis of the University of Queensland before moving to London and currently studies with Mezzo-Soprano, Ms Jane Stevenson, Steven Maughan (Glyndebourne) and Alex Ingram (ENO, ROH).
Marina’s awards include the Queensland State Eisteddfod Contralto Championship (2007) and the Australian National Eisteddfod Sacred Song Prize (2007).
Marina was accepted into the Opera Queensland Chorus for the 2008 Season, however, was unable to take up the position due to moving to the UK.
Marina has sung at the Grimeborne Opera Festival and Morley Opera. In 2009, Marina performed the title role of Ariane in Dukas’ seldom-performed “Ariane et Barbe-Bleue” for Morley Opera. Other roles include Zia Principessa (“Suor Angelica”), Baba (“The Medium”) and La Ciesca (“Gianni Schicchi”).
